My Life In Paramanand Yoga Ashram

My started the day on the roof with a sense awakening meditation as well as a prayer, facing north (I think), allowing it to happen. Moving to the yoga hall I started with some brain gym exercises to assist with memory and learning and then started my personal warm ups. Ramon led the class in morning Asana’s, he is a good young teacher and I admire him for his grasp on the Asana’s and his teaching style.

MEDITATION WITH GURUJI

Putting our fingers in the Sumah Mudra position, fingerss brought all together and placed on our shoulders, we commenced a Laughing Mudra. Happiness and Bliss are our true nature and laughing helps us to reconnect with that. We did this standing, with a partner and finally on in supine. When we stopped I experienced a deep energy feeling in my chest and lower abdomen. It felt like there was a huge weight on my abdomen and although it felt difficult to breathe, it did not concern me. The energy vibrations lasted about 15 minutes, it was intense and amazing.

MORNING CLASSES YOGA THERAPY

Two patients presented them selves for yoga therapy treatment with Guruji today, Boorna 49 years old and Ranjana aged 45 each with a long list of internal symtoms. Invisible diseases are often from the mind which is why yoga therapy can help.As all diseases first start from the mind, if he mind is imbalanced the diseases become visible. It comes back again to balance.Two Asanas were perscribed Mukarasana and Supta Pawanmuktasana which the whole class undertook. Both patients reported improvement. If the patients had been living a balanced life and these sort of problems will not occur. Society wants us to be beggars, be true to yourself

ASANA CLASS WITH RAMA

Asanas we worked on today were.TADASANA-Palm Tree Pose, VRIKSHASAN-Tree Pose, SIMHASAN and SIMHAGARJANASANA-Roaring lion pose(This was very calming as to be expected).NAUKA SANCHALANASAN-Rowing the boat pose, BHU NAMANASAN-Spinal Twist Prostration Pose and BJUJANGASANA-Cobra Pose

KARMA YOGA

Swept the courtyard and tidied up around the outdoor seating area. Removed rubbish and unused painting equipment and shook out everyone’s door mats. I like doing these Karma Yoga.

ASANA PROJECT

I did not find the opportunity to practice my chosen asana’s today so I studied them in the asana manual. I have alsked Ramon to mentor me in this project which he has agreed to do.

A imbalance of the mind, body, soul leads to disease and the technique to balance this is Ayurveda. Ayurveda is the science of life, and when working with yoga creates balance and the perfect life. Yoga philosophy is about realising the ultimate truth.We were introduced to the philosophy of the KNOWER and the KNOWN. To be the KNOWER is to be the witness of your thoughts, which puts you in connection with the universal consciousness. Become a witness to your mind, especially in challenging situations, even for a few seconds, this will calm the mind, takes its power away.

After a fun musical Bhakti yoga practiced the evening finished with a laughing mudra practice that concludedwith me lying on the floor like a child laughing hysterically and throwing my arms and legs around involuntarily. Instructed to connect with the mother earth and the mother energy I experienced moments of deep peace, with flashes of being a baby asleep in my mothers arms. It was a deeply comforting and calming experience

QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS

Another fascinating day, my throat has certainly been getting a lot of exercise which is a surprise. My shoulder and neck are feeling a lot better but definitely looking forward to a session with Dr Mehta, especially after meeting him. The teachers are fantastic here, thanks.
