Yoga Therapy For COVID

Introduction


Covid19 pandemic, originated from Wuhan, China in late 2019 and has devastated the world. Various vaccines and medicines are helping to an extent but still research for 100% effective treatment is going on various fronts world over. Yoga Therapy is one of the effective methods as an alternative therapy for Covid19. This is based on numerous studies and findings and ancient knowledge of wellness and health.

Authenticity of the program:
This program is for the wellness of mankind against the Pandemic, specially designed after extensive Research / feedback /devotions / dedication / trust / contribution from the students, patients, friends, teachers, faculties, ofParamanand Yoga under the inspiration of Dr. OmanandGuruji.

Goal:
After completion of this course, one can help common people or the patients of Covid19 with Yoga Therapy techniques, proper guidance, assistance, improvement of health, immunity, general conditions, mental health, peace, better feelings and positivity.

Eligibility/ prequalification:
Should be a Yoga Teacher

Mode of teaching: Online, interactive, google meet. During live sessions: All participants should switch ON their camera and Lights Be fully present and participate with full sincerity.

Duration of course: 1 month
Batch starting From April 26th to May 1st, 2021 daily 7am to 8am IST
From May 2nd to May 25th, Once a week, every Saturday 7 to 8am IST

Course Suitable for Yoga Teachers / Yoga Therapist / Yoga Aspirants / common public / patients of Covid19 - initial stage, advance stage and recovered.

Course outlines:
Sufferer requires selected Yoga Therapy techniques and precautions with higher awareness. Yoga therapy helps in empowering the immune system, psychological health. If a patient is ready to dedicate his valuable time with sincerity, devotion and adopt proper Yoga Therapy then good results are waiting for him. Follow the guided procedure, through a good knowledgeable Yoga therapist for better results.

Ashtanga Yoga opens the systematic way to prepare a life which will liberate from unnecessary fear, anger, confusion, frustration and lead to better insight.

  • Purification of Life through “Yama and Niyama”.
  • Purification and perfection of the body through “Asana”.
  • Purification and perfection of Prana through “Pranayama”.
  • Purification of being through “Meditation”.
  • Invoke Bliss through Being Blissful Meditation® and attain Samadhi
  • Balanced lifestyle, Balanced diet, Balanced behavior, Balanced thoughts,
    Balanced yogic exercises, Balanced studies (But highly moral studies),
    Balanced speech, Balanced action, Balanced efforts, Balanced concentration.

1. Lifestyle (Yama and Niyama) balanced behaviour. For details, please refer to the Yama and Niyama section/ book by Dr. OmanandGuruji. Apart from Yama and Niyama also follow:

  • Non-violence towards yourself and others.
  • Balance habits. Extreme of everything is bad.
  • Keep hygiene and cleanliness
  • Lessor anger, and fear
  • Be more relaxed
  • Live Sattvic Life (Balanced or right life): One should live a balanced life to reap the fruits of a beautiful life. A balanced life is a Yogic life. This will improve strength and joy in the body, mind, and feelings.

2. YuktAahar (Balanced diet): For more details, please refer to the ‘Yogic diet’ section of this book. For this health condition observe and take diet in the following manner:

  • Avoid cold food, cold drinks.
  • Drink lukewarm water
  • Eat lighter on time when you feel hunger.
  • Take dinner about 3 hours before sleep.
  • suitable and smaller diet
  • high fibre and low-fat diet
  • Avoid fried and fast food
  • Avoid caffeine, alcohol, smoking.
  • Brisk walking, a minimum of 15 minutes is advisable.

3. Ayurveda: Basic Ayurveda medicines, treatment, and other procedures are recommended on, case-to-case basis. Few highlights of Ayurveda are:

  • Ashwagandha, Shatavari, Safed Musli, shilajit are some of the finest ingredients to improve strength.
  • Brahmmi, Chyawanprash which is prepared with over two dozen herbal medicines is useful and recommended.
  • Panchkarma selected activities like Shirodhara, Nasya, and others.

    4. Prayers. An expression of gratitude for life. For details, please refer to the Prayer section of this book. Prayer will bring peace and peace will bring balance.

    5. Yogic ShvsanAngSanchalan (Yogic Breathing combined with movements of limbs) or Yogic warming up. Selected and appropriate activities suitable for obesity should be adopted, depending upon age, BMI, flexibility, and other health conditions.

    • More focus on belly, Agyachakra, Anahat chakra, Manipur chakra, Swadhishtan chakra, Muladhara chakra.
    • Gentle flow is recommended.

    6. Asana (Yoga poses): Follow selected Asana for better results. There may be variations for each Asana, depending upon age, BMI, health conditions, flexibility, and other factors. One should adopt and practice these asanas with full presence, awareness, and happiness for better results. For details, please refer to Asana section 6 or Asana books by Dr. OmanandGuruji.

    9.Mudra Signs/gesture: Yogic Mudra plays a very important role in one’s life. Following Mudra/s are helpful in Yoga Therapy. For details, please refer to the Mudra section or book by Dr. OmanandGuruji.

    • Brahma Mudra all 4 variations, 5 rounds each.
    • Vayu Mudra for 5 minutes daily during toilet
    • Gyan Mudra, 5 minutes
    • Dhyan Mudra 5 minutes

    10. Omanand Healing Technique(OHT): This technique is very effective in bringing balance. For details, please refer to the OHT section or book by Dr. OmanandGuruji.

    11. Meditation: Meditation is the best medication. Being Blissful Meditation® technique is highly recommended for powerful Yoga therapy which gives good and effective results. For details, please refer to the Being Blissful Meditation® (BBM) section or book by Dr. OmanandGuruji. There are separate courses to learn BBM®.

    • Be in the meditative state for a minimum of 15 minutes daily for better results and overcoming this challenge.

    12. Contraindication: Following Asana should be avoided during diseases.

    13. Precautions: Following activities/conditions should be avoided:

    • Avoid extreme cold or extreme hot places
    • Avoid heavy activities, work, exercises.
    • Avoid polluted or crowded area
    • Avoid lifting/pushing heavyweights

    14. Prerequisite: As per ancient Yogic texts, each patient should be reminded of 5 pre-qualifications to receive optimum benefits of Yoga Therapy:

    • Anushasan (Discipline, ruling the self, mastering the self). - PYS1/1 ( chapter 1 Sutra No. 1 of Patanjali Yoga sutra(PYS)
    • Abhyas (intense practice, sincere practice) - PYS 1.12
    • Samarpan (surrender to cosmic energy, total acceptance, not expectations or complaints) - Gita 4.39
    • Vairagya( detachment means total present and present) - PYS 1.12

    15. Mantra: Mantra Yoga has its own significance in Yoga Therapy. Often they work as healing energy, healing vibrations, healing mental waves. Mantra is sound. Sound is energy. To cure the health condition following mantra is useful:

    OM or VAM minimum 5 minutes daily

    16. Karma Yoga(Action Yoga): For purification of your actions, perform Karma Yoga (Self-less work or action without expectations) every day for a minimum of 30 minutes. Where you are totally present without attachment or expectations. This will cultivate health, healing, and happiness.

    17. Bhakti Yoga(Devotion Yoga): This is a very important aspect to get connected inner energy with universal energy. Bhakt means one who is non-divided or not confused or non-fragmented or single-minded. Bhakti Yoga is a journey towards oneness that brings healing and health

    The Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India recommends AyurvedicKadha for increasing immune power to fight against Covid19 with the following recipe:

    1. Black pepper 2 pinch
    2. Cinnamon 3~4 pcs or half teaspoon powder
    3. Cardamom 3~4 pcs or half teaspoon powder
    4. Ginger fresh ginger about 50gms crush and mix in the water
    5. Fennel seed 1 half teaspoon
    6. Turmeric powder 1 half teaspoon
    • Mix all in 250 ml of water, boil it ...till water remains 100 ml.
    • One tablespoon jaggery, if no diabetes.
    • Honey can be added when water is cold...but you have to sip hot.
    • Honey with Hot water is not recommended...
    • 3 to 5 times a day. Half a cup sipping it.

    Pranayama: in a very relaxed manner. No haste or powerful movements. Maintain the practice in a gentle manner:

    1. Kapalbhati - Slowly...300 strokes/day with pauses as and when required...
    2. Bhastrika - Slowly … 300 strokes/day with pauses as and when required...
    3. Anulomvilom - slowly … 5 minutes
    4. Bhramari ...5 minutes

    Makar Asana as many times as is comfortable.

    • No Cold water/No Cold drinks
    • No Yogurt
    • No Bananas
    • No cold food.
    • No cold food.
    • Avoid going into cold /cooler areas.
    • Best to avoid use of A/C.
    • No late night meals.
    • Keep yourself active and busy
    • Let there be balanced thoughts
    • Be Calm and accept the universal Shakti which will help in removing obstacles
    • Have a Positive attitude.
    • Fearlessness by reading good literature or brave stories.
    • No irritation or anger or frustration. Just observe the happening as if some toxins / bad karma are exiting the body. Let go.
    • Meditate with bija mantra or Om as much as you can.
